What is your overall reaction to SB1070 after reading it? What justifications do the Arizona lawmakers present for passing such a controversial bill? What do you think the purpose of the law is? (And I don't mean the legalization of racial profiling . . . go deeper). And, of course, make sure you respond to two posts.

The purpose of this law requirs that officals and agenices of the state as well as the political subdivisions to fully comply with and assist in the enforcement of federal immigration laws and gives county attorneys subpoena power in certain investigations of employers.  Establishes crimes involving trespassing by illegal aliens, stopping to hire or soliciting work under specified circumstances, and transporting, harboring or concealing unlawful aliens, and their respective penalties.

Background:
Federal law provides that any alien who 1) enters or attempts to enter the U.S. at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, 2) eludes examination by immigration officers, or 3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the U.S. by a willfully false or misleading representation is guilty of improper entry by an alien.  For the first commission of the offense, the person is fined, imprisoned up to six months, or both, and for a subsequent offense, is fined, imprisoned up to 2 years, or both (8 U.S.C. § 1325).

From reading the laws  of Arizona, I believe that the purpose of the law is to keep the drug dealers out of the state. I understand the purpose of having this law but I do not agree with the circumstances because its unfair to the people that are being profiled as immigrants by law enforcement. At the same time our goal is to keep our country safe from others that may want to take advantage of our system. Every human being has rights and I feel that these laws depict the characteristics of someone rights to be in this state.
