They Carried





Some of the things that were carried during their time at war were letters, photos, sentimental charms that were given to them by their family members and the emotional burden of stress, sadness, happiness etc. Some of the artifacts that are mentioned in the article is the memorial photographs, teddy bears, clothes, and medal of honor. The way the article and the book relates to the artifacts left behind is the emotional distress that these solders had to endure. After reading the article and the first chapter of O'Brians novel, it gives us a better understanding of what the solders went through.
